Easy Potato Peel Chips are a great appetizer. It’s tailgating season! If you are looking for something new and different with minimal effort, here is the recipe for you!

These Easy Potato Peel Chips are so easy, you will kick yourself for ever throwing away those peelings!

We use potatoes A LOT! For our GARLIC MASHED POTATOES, our SCALLOPED POTATOES AND ONIONS and tons of other POTATO DISHES. So I sometimes feel like I am always peeling potatoes.

I am not a fan of food waste so I am always looking for ways to use the ingredient as a whole.

I am a huge proponent of making broth with chicken bones and you may or may not be able to find an eerie little bag in my freezer full of chicken bones. Anyway, back to the potato peels!

Homemade Potato Skin CHIPS in the oven

This time of year is my favorite. I love to tailgate at home. I usually spend a lot of Saturday morning getting food prepped for all of the big games we love to watch. RTR!, oops, sorry, did I say that out loud?

I make a lot of great little bite dishes but this one has to be one of my favorites ever!

While I also prep for Sunday Lunch on Saturdays, I love having potatoes and use the peels to make these phenomenal little chips. So here ya go! You can thank me later!

How to make Potato Peels into Chips!

~ Ingredients ~

  • The peelings from 4 medium potatoes. (At least 1-2 inches long.)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Lawry’s Seasoning Salt

~ Method ~

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a sheet pan with aluminum foil. Toss potato peelings with olive oil and half of salt, pepper and seasoning salt. Spread in a single layer on prepared baking sheet.
  2. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-15 minutes until crispy and brown. Watch carefully as they can brown pretty quickly. Season with the other half of salt, pepper and seasoning salt or more to taste.

Tips and Tricks

Can I use Sweet Potato Peels too?

You sure can. You can make these the same way or even sweeten them up with brown sugar or other sweet spices like cinnamon.

Can I make these in the Air fryer?

You can do them the same way and cook them at 400 degrees in the air fryer for about 10-15 minutes shaking half way through.

How to store

After cooling, store in an airtight container for up to a week. You can crisp back up on low heat in the air fryer or oven to reheat and serve.

What makes these Potato Peel Chips so good?

I am of the opinion it is their simplicity that makes them taste even better. The fact that nothing was wasted is an added bonus for me.

These are great alone for a tailgate party or you can use them for a side to these great Sheet Pan Bacon Cheeseburger sliders. You can even mix up the sauce you use for the sliders and use it as a dip for these Potato Peel Chips!
