OP (original poster) didn't think he would ever be in a position where he would be unwelcome in his own home but that's exactly where he landed. His son, his son's fiancé, and her family were the culprits in this incident.

OP and his wife bought a house in Pennsylvania when their son decided to go to college there. Their son wanted to stay in there after graduation and OP thought the house would make for a nice second home.

It would also provide them a place to stay at when they visit their son every so often from their home in New Jersey. The parents pay the taxes on the property, the maintenance, and other services the home might need.

The cookout started and everyone seemed to be getting along

OP's wife, daughter, and son went inside the house followed by his son's fiancé, her mom, and her sisters. After a few minutes, OP's wife and daughter storm out of the house looking very upset.

They told OP they wanted to go home to New Jersey that instant. OP was confused but went along with what they wanted, but he needed to find out what happened exactly.

Once they were home in New Jersey and have finally calmed down, they told OP what happened. Soon enough, OP was as infuriated as them.

Apparently, OP, his wife, and his daughter were not invited to his son's wedding. His son, his fiancé, and her family said OP's family were not "their kind of people."

OP called his son to straighten things out. His son said his fiancé's family thought OP and his family were not good enough and they will probably embarrass them at the wedding hence the rescinded invite.

It took OP a week to finally calm himself down and drive to his Pennsylvania home. When he got to the house, he saw his son's fiancé and her family looking like they have all moved into the home.

They asked OP why he was there and the father exasperated father replied he was there to talk to his son about the wedding issue. The fiancé's family told OP to leave their house.

That was the final straw as OP told them they had 30 days to leave his home. He told them to inform his son that he was selling the house and he could find another place to live with the parasitic family.

OP immediately went to a realtor and listed the house for sale. The leeching family called OP's son to relay what just happened, they thought he owned the house outright.

His son called to ask why OP was selling his house. OP replied that it was actually his house since he bought it himself and paid for the property taxes.

His son was just living there rent-free and since he doesn't want his family ruining his new life, he is officially homeless. OP reminded him he had 30 days to leave or OP will call a lawyer to evict all of them.

Even so, OP is well within his right to do what he did because he actually owns the house. His son forgot that and acted terribly.

The real question here is, where is the son's spine in all of these? He seems to be going along with every decision his future wife and her family make for him.

Not once did we read about him standing up for his parents when his "new family" called labeled them not good enough. We await OP's update in the future should he indulge our curiosity.
